A Letter From Our Pastor, Fr. Simon

Fr. Simon

Christ is risen, alleluia! He is truly risen, alleluia!

With great joy! I greet you this Easter as we celebrate the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ over sin and death. The empty tomb proclaims the heart of our faith: “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here but has risen.” Resurrection is not only an event of the past, but also the power that renews our lives, our families, and our parish today.

This year, as we continue to walk through the Jubilee of St. Francis of Assisi, we rejoice in a special grace as our parish has been designated a pilgrimage place. We are therefore, invited to rediscover the simplicity, joy, and missionary spirit that marked his Life of St. Francis of Assisi. He teaches us that resurrection is not an idea but a way of living, one that embraces peace, reconciliation, care for one another, and deep trust in God’s providence. May his witness inspire us to become a parish where every person feels welcomed, valued, and called to holiness. This is a profound privilege. It means that our parish is recognized as a spiritual home where people from across the Diocese can encounter God’s mercy, deepen their faith, and experience renewal. With this honor comes a renewed call to hospitality, prayer, and joyful witness.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your love, generosity, and commitment to St. Jarlath. Your faith sustains our community. Your service, your prayers, your sacrifices, and your presence make our parish a true home. Thank you for walking together through challenges and joys, and for helping us build a vibrant, multicultural family of faith.

As we enter this holy season, I warmly encourage every household to participate fully in the Easter Liturgies and the life of our parish. Come to the celebrations of Holy Week and Easter. Bring your children, your elders, your neighbors, let us gather as one people to renew our baptismal promises and to rejoice in the new life Christ offers us.

May the Risen Lord fill your hearts with peace, strengthen your families, and guide our parish as we continue discerning the future God desires for us. May this Easter be a time of healing, hope, and renewed mission.

With prayers for each of you and your loved ones, I wish you a blessed and joyful Easter.

Christ is risen! Alleluia!

In the peace of the Risen Lord, Fr. Simon Mbuthi OFM Cap

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cristo ha resucitado, aleluya! ¡Verdaderamente ha resucitado, aleluya!
Con gran alegría, los saludo en esta Pascua, celebrando la victoria de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sobre el pecado y la muerte. El sepulcro vacío proclama la esencia de nuestra fe: “¿Por qué buscan entre los muertos al que vive? No está aquí, sino que ha resucitado”. La resurrección no es solo un acontecimiento del pasado, sino también el poder que renueva nuestras vidas, nuestras familias y nuestra parroquia hoy.
Este año, al continuar el Jubileo de San Francisco de Asís, nos regocijamos en una gracia especial: nuestra parroquia ha sido designada lugar de peregrinación. Por lo tanto, estamos invitados a redescubrir la sencillez, la alegría y el espíritu misionero que marcaron la vida de San Francisco de Asís. Él nos enseña que la resurrección no es una idea, sino una forma de vida que abraza la paz, la reconciliación, el cuidado mutuo y una profunda confianza en la providencia de Dios. Que su testimonio nos inspire a convertirnos en una parroquia donde cada persona se sienta acogida, valorada y llamada a la santidad. Este es un gran privilegio. Significa que nuestra parroquia es reconocida como un hogar espiritual donde personas de toda la Diócesis pueden encontrar la misericordia de Dios, profundizar su fe y experimentar la renovación. Este honor conlleva un renovado llamado a la hospitalidad, la oración y el testimonio gozoso.
Quiero expresar mi más sincera gratitud por su amor, generosidad y compromiso con San Jarlath. Su fe sostiene a nuestra comunidad. Su servicio, sus oraciones, sus sacrificios y su presencia hacen de nuestra parroquia un verdadero hogar. Gracias por caminar juntos a través de los desafíos y las alegrías, y por ayudarnos a construir una familia de fe vibrante y multicultural.
Al entrar en este tiempo sagrado, animo cordialmente a todos los hogares a participar plenamente en las liturgias de Pascua y en la vida de nuestra parroquia. Vengan a las celebraciones de Semana Santa y Pascua. Traigan a sus hijos, a sus mayores, a sus vecinos, y reunámonos como un solo pueblo para renovar nuestras promesas bautismales y regocijarnos en la nueva vida que Cristo nos ofrece.
Que el Señor Resucitado llene sus corazones de paz, fortalezca a sus familias y guíe a nuestra parroquia mientras seguimos discerniendo el futuro que Dios desea para nosotros. Que esta Pascua sea un tiempo de sanación, esperanza y una misión renovada.
Con oraciones por cada uno de ustedes y sus seres queridos, les deseo una Pascua bendecida y gozosa.
¡Cristo ha resucitado! ¡Aleluya!
En la paz del Señor Resucitado, P. Simon Mbuthi OFM Cap.
